Finally! They're all inside.

You're not supposed to "inspect" the bees for a week or so. But in comparison to being dumped out of a box, we figure peaking through the window should be fine. It's kinda hard to see through the reflection, but the dark mass is the swarm. The cluster is festooned right up against the false back, which is positioned behind the 16th top bar. The false back can be moved to make more room as the bees require. We can give them 8 more bars to work with, once the colony size is up.

BTW, I think they're Italian Honeybees, apis mellifera lingustica. They seem quite docile – phew! – although I did see one poor girl who'd lost her stinger, crawling on my glove.
